This mosaic print is a composite of 5000 individual images of the Long Beach Aquarium in California. The images were photographed by Wernher Krutein himself. The artist spent over 500 hours assembling this collage by hand. Unlike almost any mosaic you will ever see, everything here is the artists work and there are no repetition of images nor is there a strict grid pattern.
Wernher Krutein has, since childhood, formulated a reverence for a world he describes as "simply beautiful, enormously complex, and lovingly profound." In this quest he has taken well over three million photographs and hundreds of hours of film and video footage all over the planet. His endeavor is no less than the documentation of the Universe.
