In a manner reminiscent of the pointillist movement from the 18th century, artist Wernher Krutein fuses up to 8,000 tiny images, without duplication, to form an overall composition. Reflecting a common theme, each image is individually sized and layered in by hand, primarily according to qualities of color and value (though he will manually change that too as needed for each image), but also with attention to random relationships. The unique process and precision of custom placement breaks away from the sterility of relying purely on grid patterns and allows Krutein the control to induce uncommonly fine and intricate detail and meaning.
